It leaves you wanting more while also sending off the characters into the sunset.Tomlin’s first foray into film acting came in Robert Altman‘s classic Nashville (1975) - they shared an agent who promoted her to him. But Grace and Frankie fans might agree that the timing and execution of this particular ending was excellent. It’s hard to know how (and sometimes, when) to end a comedy series rather than continuing to open up stories for the characters. It’s a hopeful and bittersweet ending to one of the funniest Netflix comedies. In the end, the duo finds themselves on the beach searching for the next chapter of their lives. Grace and Frankie welcomed Tomlin and Fonda’s 9 to 5 costar Dolly Parton as a guest star in the series ender as an angel who greets the pair in heaven and sends them back down to Earth. Over the course of its nearly 100 episodes, the unstoppable titular duo made us laugh until we cried, and the series finale definitely had fans crying as they said goodbye to Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda’s lovable characters forever. (We’d say “so far,” but it seems unlikely that there will ever be a Netflix show that will top it, but we’d love to be wrong.)
